The Hotel Splendido is an ancient villa that overlooks the spectacular bay and tiny harbor of Portofino on the Italian Riviera. Set on the hillside in four acres of romantic tropical gardens and superb palm trees, this luxury villa was transformed into a deluxe hotel in 1901 and boasts sensational Ligurian cuisine and sumptuous rooms and suites with balconies and terraces. All rooms and suites are superbly equipped, offering every amenity including satellite television and video. Each has it's own private bathroom with shower, and many bathrooms feature Jacuzzis. La TerrazzaLa Terrazza Restaurant overlooks Portofino Bay, and a larger indoor restaurant enjoys a similar view. Emphasis is placed on the typical Ligurian cuisine of the region, with pasta and locally caught fish being specialties. The poolside restaurant serves informal lunches and snacks from spring to autumn.

Meeting FacilitiesMeeting facilities are available in the Hotel Splendido, and also in the adjacent Cervara Abbey. The Hotel Splendido manages the Abbey, assuring professional service. The Splendido contains two meeting rooms, the Ginepro, which holds up to 160 guests, and the Pitosforo, which holds up to 50. The latest audio-visual and communications equipment can be supplied, for example front and back projection for both slides and video.
Cervara AbbeyOriginally a Benedictine Monastery outcrop, Cervara over looks the Gulf of Tigullio from a rocky hillside which dominates the coastal road between Santa Margherita and Portofino. Founded in 1364, it lived periods of glory and power and moments of desolation always coming back to life and prosperity. The Abbey offers four adjoining salons which can also be used individually, ideal for banquets and meetings with a maximum capacity of 260 persons for banquets and 240 for meetings, theatre style. The purpose of the present restoration is to recover the original architectural structures and social functions of the Abbey. The beautiful restored areas from the Cloister to the Chapel and the function rooms, the Italian Garden and the Wistaria Court are ideal venues for every type of event, weddings, artistic and cultural exhibitions, company weddings and fashion shows.

* Eat freshly caught seafood at one of the harbourside restaurants and watch Italy's jet-set stroll past. * Walk around the lighthouse at the top of the promontory from which you can enjoy splendid views of the picturesque port and the Mediterranean beyond. * Take a boat trip to San Fruttuoso and on a calm day, try and spot the bronze statue of Christ immersed 15 meters below the surface in memory of divers who have lost their lives at sea. * Drive to Santa Margherita, a popular seaside resort on the Gulf of Tigullio. Dating back to Roman times and characterized by the old fishermen's houses that face on to the port, the town is home to the Villa Durazzo, a 16th century building, with an elegant garden and large park with exotic plants, statues and fountains. * Swim at Paraggi, a sparkling cove three kilometers from the village. * Book the Splendido's private speedboat for some exhilarating water skiing. * Walk to the summit of Monte Portofino - on a very clear day you can see as far as Corsica. * Follow the footpath to San Fruttuoso through the vineyards, orchards and slopes covered in cypress and olive groves and wander through the recently restored abbey which fills the width of the bay. * Take a drive along the coast to the five villages of Cinque Terre, perched on tiny cliff-bound inlets overlooking the Mediterranean and surrounded by steeply terraced vineyards. * Drive to Rapallo and take the cable car to Montallegro for spectacular views of the coast.
