Auschwitz - Birkenau, the former Nazi concentration camp is a three hour trip and may be reached by tour-bus or arrangements can be made via the hotel concierge. The site now houses the Oswiecim State Museum, which displays exhibits and documents relating to Nazi atrocities. There is also the Death Wall, Death Block and the Hunger Bunker where St Maximilian Kolbe was martyred giving his life in the voluntary sacrifice for the life of one of his fellow prisoners.
