Directions

The hotel is located on the south coast of Portugal, midway between the traditional fishing port of Portimao and the historic town of Lagos. Le Meridien Pinina is now an easy 2 minutes access from the motorway following a recent extension of the motorway to Lagos, which has also reduced the journey time between Faro Airport and Penina from 50 to 30 minutes. A transfer to the hotel from Faro AIrport in a chauffeur driven air conditioned taxi, costs approximately 62 Euros from 6am to 10pm and approximately 75 Euros from 10pm to 6am. A minibus transfer for a minimum of 8 people costs around 88 Euros each way. The nearest railway station is Portimao 5KM from the hotel. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel.

Nearest airport - Faro Airport. Distance from property - 65 km /37 miles. Le Meridien Penina is now an easy 2 minutes access from the motorway following a recent extension of the motorway to Lagos, which has also reduced the time 50 to 30 minutes.

The Algarve, with its pleasant climate, is a perfect place for leisure and sports enthusiasts. Golf is particularly high on the lists of things to do and there are numerous courses to test even the most ardent player. At the hotel there is the exclusive and challenging 18-hole Sir Henry Cotton Championship Golf Course, as well as the Academy Course for beginners, and a new 9-hole Resort Course. There is also an extensive driving range and huge putting green. The beach is four kilometres away from the hotel (with complimentary transfers from June to the end of September). The nearest town with shops, local entertainment and a casino is four km from the resort at Portimao and Lagos is 12 kilometres away.

Golf

Le Meridien Penina Golf and Resort offers a wide range of sporting and leisure facilities that includes three golf courses, an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole academy course and a 9-hole resort course. There is a golf academy, for golfers of all abilities, and Penina offers a five-day golf instruction programme (contact property for details) These clinics are conducted as a group with a maximum of pupils to one professional and must be booked with at least seven days notice. The resort also offers a driving range, practice holes and putting greens. Start times on the golf courses can be pre-booked upon room reservation, subject to courses availability. A handicap certificate is required of 28 for men and 36 for ladies on the championship course and soft spikes are required to play on all courses.

Tennis and Football

Further sporting facilities includes six floodlit tennis courts; five of which are hard surfaced courts and one Astro Turf court. Fees for tennis courts and lessons at the Tennis Academy are available at the hotel's resort reservations centre. The FIFA-sized football field has been used by teams like Chelsea FC from the UK and Borussia Dortmund from Germany for their winter training. There is also a three-kilometre jogging circuit with 12 exercise stations for individual and family runs, free for guests, a fully equipped gymnasium, also free of charge to guests, a full-size snooker table, free of charge to guests over 18 years of age and mountain bikes that are available all year-round for rides within the resort at a cost of ?5.00 for two hours.
